Class Overview

What is the Wizard?
The Wizard is the classic glass-cannon mage in PWI: almost no defense, almost no HP – but the highest single-target damage in the entire game. Played correctly, a well-geared endgame Wizard kills almost everything in 1–2 hits. The path to get there is the hardest of all classes – especially at low levels.
Difficulty: High! Wizards die quickly at low levels. That is normal. With good kiting skills and the right build, you will become one of the strongest classes in the game at endgame.
Stat Effect for Wizard Priority
MAG Magic damage + Mana pool + Mag. Defense ★★★★★ All in!
STR Only needed to equip armor & weapon ★★ Keep at minimum
VIT +10 HP/pt – lowest multiplier in the game! ★ Beginner option only
DEX Accuracy – useless for magic attacks LA-Build only
VIT is almost worthless! Wizard gains only 10 HP per VIT point – the lowest of all classes (Barbarian: 17 HP/VIT). 50 VIT points = only 500 extra HP, but you lose 50 MAG. Not recommended except for absolute beginners.

Stat Scaling per Point

These are the base values you gain per attribute point. Use them for concrete calculations — e.g. +10 VIT = +100 HP.
Stat Pro Punkt Hinweis
VIT +10 HP e.g. +10 VIT = +100 HP
STR Req. only Armor req. only — no damage bonus
DEX +1 % Crit / 20 DEX + Accuracy + Evasion (mostly minor for casters)
MAG Mag. ATK ↑ · +MP Primary stat! Damage + MP pool scale with MAG

PvE Builds Compared

Pure MAG Build

  • Recommendation #1 · Endgame
  • 1 STR every 2 levels
  • Rest → MAG
  • Every 2 lvls: 9 MAG + 1 STR
  • Maximum magic damage
  • Best endgame potential
  • Standard for TW & instances
  • Very low HP (squishiest build)
  • Requires kiting skill & good gear

Hybrid (VIT) Build

  • Recommendation #2 · Beginner
  • 1 STR every 2 levels
  • 1 VIT per level
  • Rest → MAG
  • Stop at ~30–50 VIT, then pure MAG
  • More HP for survival
  • Beginner-friendly until Lv70
  • Restat to Pure MAG at Lv90+
  • Lower damage
  • Restat costs coins

Light Armor Build

  • Situational · PvP option
  • 1 STR + 1 DEX per level
  • Rest → MAG
  • Every 2 lvls: 6 MAG + 2 STR + 2 DEX
  • Better physical defense
  • More crit chance (DEX)
  • Less magic damage
  • Nearly useless for PvE after last update
  • Not recommended for endgame
★ Meta Note (as of 2024/2025): After recent major updates all classes received passive base defense. The main reason for the LA Build (more phys. def.) is largely gone. Pure MAG is now the absolute standard – including for PvP.

100 54 401 337 Endgame – One-Shot potential
105 57 421 354 Max Level
Golden rule: 1 STR every 2 levels – never more, never less. On odd levels: 5 MAG. On even levels: 4 MAG + 1 STR. Hybrid: 1 VIT instead of 1 MAG every level until Lv70, then pure MAG.

The 3 Element Paths

Fire / Water / Earth – skill focuses
- Fire – Offensive — Strongest direct damage, AoE Zhen. Best PvE DPS profile. Recommended for solo leveling & instances. · Key Skills: Pyrogram, Divine Pyrogram, Zhen (AoE), Will of the Phoenix
- Water – Support/Debuff — Heal (small), Slow, Water DoT. Useful in squad, weaker solo damage. · Key Skills: Gush, Glacial Snare, Aqua Cannon, Frostblade
- Earth – Control — Stun, Slow, Blind. Very good for PvP and Crowd Control. Situationally useful in PvE. · Key Skills: Rock Fall, Pitfall, Sandstorm (AoE, Lv69!), Force of Will
PvE Recommendation: Max the Fire tree first. Then Sandstorm (Earth, Lv69) for AoE grinding. Force of Will (Earth, Lv39) is a must-have – it knocks mobs back and gives you room to cast without kiting.

Key Skills (Priority)

Skill priority PvE
Skill Element Purpose Prio
Pyrogram Fire Strongest single hit – always max! ★★★★★
Divine Pyrogram Fire AoE + strongest burst ★★★★★
Gush Water Quick-cast, filler between big skills ★★★★★
Rock Fall Earth Filler + stun chance ★★★★
Force of Will (Lv39) Earth Knockback – ends the kiting misery! ★★★★★
Sandstorm (Lv69) Earth Strongest AoE – essential for grinding ★★★★★
Will of the Phoenix Fire Knockback + damage, good for distance ★★★
Aqua Cannon Water Slow – helpful against mobile enemies ★★★
Distance Shrink Teleport away – keep at level 1! ★★★★
Pyroshield Fire Reflect shield – good against certain bosses ★★
Tip: Distance Shrink (keep at Lv1!) is your lifesaver at low levels. Cast a spell, then Shrink backwards, spell, Shrink. After Lv39 with Force of Will no more kiting needed.

Restat & Respec Guide

When & why to redistribute?
Situation From To Timing Why?
Hybrid → Pure MAG VIT Hybrid Pure MAG Lv 90–100 Gear gives enough HP – damage explodes
LA → Arcane Robe LA Build Pure MAG Lv 80–90 PvE mobs use more magic from Lv50+ → Robe better
Arcane → LA (PvP) Pure MAG LA Build Situational Only for PvP servers or TW focus (rarely needed today)
Endgame R9/Nirvana Any Pure MAG On gear upgrade R9 gives enough HP through refines – no VIT/DEX needed
Restat costs: Requires Mirage Celestones or Tokens of Best Luck (Boutique). Important: Buy new gear first, then restat – otherwise you cannot equip it!
Armor swap order: Get new gear first → then restat → then equip gear. Never restat before having the gear ready!

Equipment Priorities

Gear stats for PvE (importance)
Stat Why important? Prio
+MAG / Magic Attack Directly more damage on all spells ★★★★★
−Channeling % Faster cast time = more damage/sec. ★★★★★
+HP / Armor Refine Compensates for missing VIT in build ★★★★
+Phys. Def. Shard Biggest weakness of Wizard is phys. dmg ★★★
+MP / Mana Important before Lv70 – enough MP after that ★★

Demon · Sage · Glyph System

Cultivation – What is Demon & Sage?
Starting at Level 89 you choose between Demon and Sage. The choice changes certain skills – but does not affect stat distribution. Both paths are good; differences lie in playstyle and focus.
Skill Demon Sage PvE Winner
Pyrogram Faster cast (−0.3s) Higher base damage Sage
Gush Higher crit chance Stronger slow effect Sage (CC)
Sandstorm Faster cast More damage + larger range Sage
Will of the Phoenix Longer knockback More damage Demon (distance)
Dragon's Breath (Zhen) Higher crit chance, self-heal Stronger damage per tick Sage (PvE)
PvE Recommendation: Sage Wizard – Higher base damage, more Triple Sparks, stronger AoE. Demon is the better choice if you prioritize PvP or TW and want burst one-shot potential.(PvP: Demon for faster cast & crit burst on single targets.)
The Glyph System (Neverfall Expansion)
From the Chaotic Soul Cultivation (Reawakening II + Lv100+ + Neverfall quest) your skills become Sanctified Skills combined – the foundation for the Glyph system. You do not.
Unlock: 6 Glyph slots via quests at the Glyph Master NPCs in front of City Hall in Neverfall (Western Steppes). First slots are free – later ones cost 10M coins if you miss the quest.
- Golden — +Damage / +Burst
- Verdant — +Chi / +HoT
- Ethereal — −Channeling / Debuffs
- Sanguine — +CC / +Burst effects
- Argent — Instant-Cast (very strong!)
Glyph Lv Bonus stats (Wizard, approx.) Farm via
Lv 1–4 Skill effects only Dawnlight Halls, Glyph Master Quests
Lv 5 +HP, +Phys.Res., +Mag.Res., +MAG Combine 4× Lv4
Lv 8 +Spirit, +Def Level Icebound Underworld / expensive
Lv 10 +4 Atk Lv, +4 Def Lv, +50 Spirit Endgame / very rare & costly
Wizard Glyph Recommendation PvE: Argent Glyph on Pyrogram (Instant-Cast = massive DPS boost!). Ethereal on Gush (−Channeling). Golden on Sandstorm (more AoE damage). Argent Glyphs are extremely valuable for caster classes!

Important Tips

- Cultivation timing Demon/Sage choice at Level 89. Switch later possible but expensive (Supreme Celestial Schism). For PvE → Sage. For PvP → Demon. Read through both skill comparisons carefully!
- Kiting until Lv39 Until you have Force of Will: cast spell → Shrink backwards → spell → Shrink. Tedious but necessary. From Lv39 use knockback and level comfortably.
- Refine armor to +3–+5 Refines give HP – that is your substitute for VIT. Armor at +3 already gives ~500–800 extra HP. Endgame goal: +5 on all pieces for massive HP bonus.
- Mobs from Lv50 use magic! From Level 50+ most PvE mobs use magic attacks. Arcane Robe is therefore better for PvE than Light Armor – Robe has the highest magic resistance.
- Genie: Absolute Domain Genie skill Absolute Domain makes you briefly invulnerable. Absolutely life-saving for the Wizard when a mob gets too close or a boss uses AoE.
- Use Magic Sword! Wizard weapon is Magic Sword (balanced damage). Not Glaive (Cleric) or Pakata (Veno) – these have a wider damage range, but Magic Sword gives more consistent values.

Quick Summary

- Pure MAG (endgame standard) — 1 STR every 2 levels + Rest → MAG (9/2 lvls) + VIT = 5 (starting value, never increase)
- Hybrid (beginner until Lv90) — 1 STR every 2 levels + 1 VIT per level (up to ~30–50 VIT) → Then: Restat to Pure MAG
Golden rule: Wizard has the hardest start but the strongest endgame. Hang in there until Lv39 (Force of Will) – after that leveling becomes genuinely fun. From Lv69 (Sandstorm) you are a force of nature.

Genie Guide

Genie basics & universal PvE skills
Genies are companion spirits from Level 1 (Watcher of the Earth, Heroes' Terrace). Their skills cost Energy (regenerates automatically) and Stamina (only rechargeable with Chi/Perfect Stones). A Genie can massively improve the Wizard's survival – who is naturally very fragile.
Important: Keep Cloud Eruption at Lv1! At Lv1 the skill already gives 1 Spark (300 Chi) + extra Chi – higher levels cost drastically more energy without proportionally more benefit.
Skill Effect Rec. Lv Prio PvE
Holy Path Movement speed to maximum (15 m/s) Lv 10 ★★★★★
Absolute Domain (AD) 5 sec. damage immunity + 2 sec. anti-stun – emergency lifesaver! Lv 10 ★★★★★
Cloud Eruption Instant +1 Spark (300 Chi) + extra Chi – for Triple Spark Lv 1 (!) ★★★★★
Second Wind Instant heal 800 HP + 2% per Genie STR – emergency HP Lv 10 ★★★★
Tree of Protection HP buffer + HoT, scales with Genie STR/DEX Lv 10 ★★★★
Extreme Poison Target takes +20% damage for squad – especially good when no Sin is present Lv 10 ★★★★
Earthquake AoE knockback + 100% skill interrupt (Lv10) – good for grinding Lv 10 ★★★
Tangling Mire Lowers target Phys. Def. −35% + 100% accuracy Lv 10 ★★★
Wizard-specific recommendation (PvE)
Skill Why for Wizard? Prio
Absolute Domain Wizard is the squishiest class – AD is literally life-saving when a mob gets too close or a boss uses AoE ★★★★★
Cloud Eruption Instant Spark → Triple Spark without waiting → massive burst combo ★★★★★
Holy Path Kiting aid until Lv39; afterwards keep up with squad pace ★★★★★
Second Wind / ToP Emergency self-heal – Wizard has barely any HP, every heal counts ★★★★
Extreme Poison +20% damage on target for whole squad – excellent during boss fights ★★★★
Recommended Wizard Genie: Zeal (orange) or Discipline (white) – Zeal for Earthflame Lure (mob pulling) + AD + Holy Path + Cloud Eruption. Discipline for DEX builds with longer Holy Path. Stats: lots of MAG (faster energy regen = more frequent AD!) + some VIT for larger energy pool.
